check*it*out

A couple of happy things for today! :-)

The new challenge is up at ScrapMojo!!! GO check it out! Easy challenge with an easy technique..plus, an awesome prize from A Million Memories! Here was my take on this week's challenge.

I SOOO loved how this layout turned out! I had bought a piece of styrene from JoAnne's a few week's back....by the way, styrene sheets are fairly inexpensive if you wanna try this..it only cost me .99 cents for an 8"x10" sheet! Anyway - I took the piece of styrene and adhered the little squares of Hambly overlays and papers....then, since our tecnique was distressing, I put masking tape all around the edges of the styrene and then inked it as well. I attached the little envelopes on top (there is private journaling tucked into each of the envelopes) and then I took some clear square epoxy stickers and put them on a piece of Hambly paper and then cut them out and adhered them on top of the other squares. The effect is ULTRA cool in real life! Lots of dimension and texture!

Let's see...OH! I got my prize package from SIStv for winning Ashley Wren's challenge a couple of weeks ago!! EEKS!!!! What an awesome-ly AWESOME prize!!! WOW! There were over 40 sheets of paper which included paper from Tinkering Ink, the Kelli Crowe collection, The Sonora High Collection, the Adrienne Looman Collection, and a Hambly overlay! Thickers, rubons, gaffer tape, organization stuff from Cropper Hopper, pens, rhinestones..my oh my!! That was like heaven in a box!

And I have been busy today getting some prep work done for my Thanksgiving baking. I got my potatoe bread dough raising in the fridge...if you have never had home-made potatoe bread...my...you are missing out! Nothing like a fresh warm piece of that bread with some butter slathered on it!! YUM! And I gotta make pumpkin pies and pecan pies...and sweet potatoe casserole. I think that is all I'm making....but, I'll be heading over to my grandma's house early in the day on Thursday to help my Mom get everything ready and get the house clean. It's gonna be really weird this year....it has always been tradition for the entire family to meet at Grandma's house at some point during the day for dinner..or if you could only make it for dessert, to stop by. And since my grandma's birthday fell on the 24th of November, we always celebrated that as well. And now, this year, she is gone. She won't be there. And it is going to be really weird. The past 2 years, I've gone with her to Sam's Club, which is like Costco, and have helped her get everything we needed for Thanksgiving dinner...it was kinda like our own little tradition...and I drove past the Sam's Club the other day, and just started crying...knowing that we weren't going to be doing that this year. It is hard to believe that she has been gone for over 5 months now. But, I'm glad that we are keeping the tradition to go over there, even tho she is gone.

Well, Troy is gone to orientation for his new job. And my new job starts in just a few days. Mixed feelings about it for sure. I guess I have been rather spoiled this last year that I have not had to work....and just thinking about that rat race routine...blah. Let's not think about it..it will be reality soon enough.

I wish to all of you a very wonderfully HAPPY THANKGIVING!!!

The holidays are a rough time. I have hated Thanksgiving since my grandfather passed away just 4 days after it two years ago. I hope that you won't get to sad tomorrow.

You did get some awesome stuff for prizes. And I really like what you did with those epoxy stickers! Great lo!

Good luck with your training.
