RAK & 4th of July

Happy 4th of July! Yes, I know I'm a little late, but still I still wanted to wish you all a Happy 4th! It was so very hot here in Florida*town...but, the Mann and I first went and had lunch at Red Robin - yum!!! Then we went over to Best Buy and browsed around a bit - bought Season 5 of NCIS. Came back home for a while, and then went over to NAS Pensacola to the Naval Air Museum. We wandered around there for a while, took some pictures - I was suprised at how many people were there - it was pretty packed. Then came back home and watched some NCIS - then headed back out at 7:30 to find a place to watch the fireworks over Pensacola Bay. I was very disappointed in the fireworks show. Each year it seems to get a little bit worse, and this year was by far, the worse yet. I'm totally jealous of my brother and sister-in-law who are up in New York City this week and got to watch the fireworks in the city....I'm sure they were spectacular!

Here is a picture of one of the prompts that Elise Blaha had on her blog a couple of weeks ago - I completely forgot to post it before this. I believe the prompt had something to do with "pocket". I sewed a piece of clear plastic onto the piece of paper and then filled the pocket with little pieces of life I had laying on my desk/home/dresser at that time.

I'm sitting at home this morning watching the gray clouds roll in; and the bursts of thunderstorms that we keep getting. We need about a full day of just rain - it has been so dry here...however, all we keep getting are these 15 minute deals that just come and go. I've been editing tons of pictures the past couple of days. I've also been pricing external hard drives - I desperately need to get my pictures backed up. I try to keep up on getting them uploaded onto Flickr in private albums, so that I at least have them somewhere, but I really need to get them all backed up on an external drive. I have thousands of files and would be devasted if I lost them. My brother recommended getting a Western Digital drive vs. the popular Sea Gate, so, I've been pricing them and waiting for someone to put them on sale. I may just have to bite the bullet though.

I found these 2 quotes the other day, and they both have been sticking with me:

"We accept the love we think we deserve."
"Enjoy it. Because it's happening."

I am putting up a little kit for a mini book as a RAK. I will draw a name on Thursday, July 9, 2009, after 8:00 CST. To enter, just leave a comment and include your favorite song at the moment (I'm looking for some new stuff for my playlist ;-). This little kit has 20 papers cut down to a 5 x 7 size. There are some vintage papers, map paper, Hambly papers & overlays, etc. There are also a handful of labels & other embellishments included and 1 Anne Taintor postcard and 1 piece of punchinella that can be used as an embellishment or as a mask for paint in the mini. Enjoy!
Happy Monday!

To pick just one favorite doesn't work for me, so here are a list of songs I'm diggin' right now....

* Give me the Meltdown - Rob Thomas
* Realize - Colbie Cailat
* Right Round - Flo Rida
* Obsessed - Mariah Carey
* Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
* Blood Theme - Dexter Soundtrack
* Poker Face - Lady Gaga

I'll leave it at that for now! I'll have to come back and see what everyone else recommends.

When Dan & I go to Red Robin we always make a stop at Best Buy too. That's where I got my WD 1tb hd. Wait it out a bit until it goes on sale. I have the black one that's a great one. I'll have to grab another soon though.

As for my favorite songs...Nothing terribly new sorry to say. Although I do like the current free song on itunes by Meese. Check that out!

Found my way to your blog through your Flickr Stream. Love it- especially your No. 1 & 2 on your List of 10 Honest Things. I understand those sentiments :)

Right now I'm listening to some older stuff - Feeder 'Dove Grey Sands'; Missy Higgins 'Sound of White' - sad, mellow tunes - and mixing it up with some underground eighties stuff. Hope that helps!

I love stitched piece of houndstooth in your pocket layout!
One of my current favorite artists is Ray Lamontagne. I like EVERYTHING he does, but especially "Let it be me". For something a little more up beat I like "Boom Boom Pow" by Blackeyed Peas.

Thanks to the link to your blog at SIS I have wound up here.

My current favorite song is just about anything by Lady Gaga as it keeps me up and moving through the night when I am waiting on hubby to come home! :)
