June Technique Layout

JUNE TECHN
IQUE LAYOUT
for GCD Studios

Melissa Mann

This month we celebrate Father's Day. Our technique was so document Father's Day while using manly colors such as blues, whites, yellow, etc.

I found this old picture of my Dad and I at my parent's house one Sunday afternoon and just loved it. I was probably around 2 years old or so here....I took the picture and since it was slightly damaged from age, I converted it into a black and white photo so as not to show the damage so easily. I used a photoshop template to easily manipulate the photo into 4 blocks and then layered the photo blocks on top of each other.

I wanted to further the layering and dimension on the layout – so, I started by punching some circles out using the Artsy Urban Line by GCD Studios. I punched several circles in all different sizes.

On some of the circles, I used a pop-dot to add some more dimension. And to further it even more, I randomly placed chipboard hearts by GCD Studios that I had used my Chip Art Tool on and scattered them across the circles. Once I had hammered the heart image into the raw chipboard, I took a small paintbrush and used gesso to cover the “stamped” image. I then ran my finger of the top of it to pull some of the paint back off the inside of the heart so the white was mainly in the indent from the stamp.
